Learning Outcomes

Upon completion of this course the participant should be able to:

  • Provide the theoretical concepts underpinning lactation and breastfeeding to promote application of effective clinical management and problem solving in the following subjects:
    • Identifying potential problems and how they can be prevented
    • Promoting effective management techniques for existing problems, and
    • Applying knowledge to seek alternative solutions

Target Audience

Any clinical or non-clinical employee of a health institution who is required to have an understanding of breastfeeding practice. This can include non-clinical staff (such as cleaners, cooks etc) through to nurses, midwives, doctors and lactation consultants.

Accreditation

This course has been endorsed by the Australian College of Midwives and attracts 1 MidPLUS and 1.5L CERPs point upon successful completion.
