Why Breast is Best
The Why Breast Is Best course will outline the benefits of breastfeeding for both the infant and mother. Also included is material relating to the composition of breastmilk and strategies to support a mother in breastfeeding for at least 6 months.
Course Content
The course features:

- practice and summative assessments, and
- a certificate of completion.
Learning Outcomes
Upon completion of this course the participant should be able to:
- discuss with women the evidence to support the benefits of breastfeeding and apply the principles to individual circumstances, and
- describe the composition of breastmilk and apply this knowledge to support mothers to continue breastfeeding for at least 6 months.

1 hour
Target Audience
Any clinical or non-clinical employee of a health institution who is required to have an understanding of breastfeeding practice. This can include non-clinical staff (such as cleaners, cooks etc) through to nurses, midwives, doctors and lactation consultants.
Accreditation
This course has been endorsed by the Australian College of Midwives and attracts 1 MidPLUS and 1L CERPs point upon successful completion.
