Learning Outcomes

Upon completion of this course the participant should be able to:

  • demonstrate knowledge of breast anatomy and changes during pregnancy which influence breastfeeding
  • provide justification and reassurance to women that no breast preparation is necessary, and
  • apply the principles of the physiology of lactation to clinical practice.

Target Audience

Any clinical or non-clinical employee of a health institution who is required to have an understanding of breastfeeding practice. This can include non-clinical staff (such as cleaners, cooks etc) through to nurses, midwives, doctors and lactation consultants.

Accreditation

This course has been endorsed by the Australian College of Midwives and attracts 1 MidPLUS and 1L CERPs point upon successful completion.
